Devrent Valley

If you take the road next to the Urgup State Hospital instead of the Ortahisar-Goreme road when going from Urgup to Avanos, your route will pass through Dervent Valley (some people call it Devrent Valley).

Dervent Valley, also known as the “Pink Valley,” is generally composed of interesting, small, narrow fairy chimneys with small pointed tops resembling rooster combs.

Perhaps because of this, it couldn’t become a residential area.

This valley showcases the most delicate and intriguing fairy chimneys in Cappadocia, with rock formations resembling petrified animals.

The most famous one is the rock resembling a camel.

You can also liken another rock in a corner to a dinosaur, a turkey, or a seal.

This valley is the most concrete example of how nature is an excellent sculptor.

Paul Lucas described such a landscape as “fantasmagoric.”
